Banff, AB Fire Permit Information

The following are the requirements and regulations for obtaining a Fire Permit in Banff.
Cost: 0$

    1. You will be asked have a properly serviced five pound fire extinguisher on site. You may be asked to have someone designated to be on fire watch with the extinguisher durring the course of the performance.
    You will be required to submit a current, up to date copy of your fire performance insurance.
    3.You must provide a signed letter of permission for your performance from the venue.
    4.The fire marshal will dictate what a minimum safe distance is between the audience a the performance space (a minimum of 1 meter).
    5.You must keeps all fuels well labeled and away from the public.
    6.You must provide information about the fuels that will be used during the performance. (Amount and type) 

You can obtain your permit the day of your performance however it is preferred that you go a few days ahead. There is always someone available 24-7 to asset you although 9-5 weekdays are preferable. The permit can be faxes of emailed to you upon special request.

Fort Mcmurray, AB Fire Permit Information

Requirements and regulations for obtaining an Open Air Burn Permit (The indoor performance permit is called the “show girl” permit however it applies to poi spinners, fire eaters, fire jugglers and similar performances) in Fort Mcmurray, AB.
Cost. 35.00$

Note:
In Fort Mcmurray you will be required to obtain your permit in person at the Fire Prevention Office (317 Gregoire Drive) speak to a safety codes officer and pay by cash. You can obtain your permit the day of your performance however it is preferred that you go a few days ahead (fridays inspector are out of the office so you may have a harder time getting your permit). The following are the requirements they sent me:

SPECIAL EVENT OPEN FLAME PERMIT
In regards to all open flame permits issued to Showgirls, Teasers or any other exotic dance club, for the purposes of a candle/hot wax show, the following conditions shall apply:

– As per AFC 2006 Div. B 2.4.3.3;

Devices having open flames shall be securely supported in non-combustible holders and shall be located or protected so as to prevent accidental contact of the flame with combustible materials.

– A fire extinguisher shall be at the stage while the open flame device is being used.

– There shall be no combustible materials in the area of the open flame while the device is being used.

– Permits shall allow for a maximum of two candles on stage during the performance.

– Permits may take up to 48 hours to be issued.

This permit is issued only to the dancer applying and for the duration of their “tour” at the club. Once their “tour” is completed in the RMWB, this permit is void, and they must apply for a new one the next time they come to the RMWB. Permits shall not be issued for any type of self ignition.

Edmonton AB, Fire Permit Information

In Alberta the fire code dictates specifically that fire performers requires the signed permission of the local fire marshal. This leaves lots of room for each fire department to have their own idea of what you need to provide to obtain that permission.

Requirements and regulations for obtaining an Open Burn in Edmonton, AB

Note:
In Edmonton you want to ask for an “Open Burn” permit not Open Flame. Also the Fire Marshal will sometimes ask to see a demonstration of your act in the venue where you intend to perform.

2.You must provide information about the fuels that will be used during the performance. (Amount and type) 
3.You may be required to submit a current, up to date copy of your fire performance insurance if you are performing indoors or and are not covered by the venue’s insurance.
4.You must provide a signed letter of permission for your performance from the venue.

5.You must keeps all fuels well labeled and away from the public.

In order to obtain your permit call Fire Prevention Officer directly at
780-496-3850 at lease 2 weeks before the event date will the details of the event. A fire marshal for the area will contact you and ask for the above information and documents. The permit can be faxes of emailed to you upon special request. 

Calgary AB, Fire Permit Information

The following are the requirements and regulations for obtaining a Fire Permit in Calgary.
It will cost you 57.25$

    1.You will be asked to carry a first aid kit, fire blanket, and five pound fire extinguisher.
    2.You will be required to submit a current, up to date copy of your fire performance insurance.
    3.You must provide a signed letter of permission for your performance from the venue.
    4.You must provide a site map of the area you will be performing demonstrating that the audience will be 15 away.
    5.You must maintains a safe distance form the audience of 15 feet.
    6.You must keeps all fuels well labeled and away from the public.
    The venue must have a working fire prevention sprinkler system.
    7.You must provide information about the fuels that will be used during the performance.
    In order to obtain your permit call 311 at least 2 weeks before the event date will the details of the event. A fire marshal for the area will contact you and ask for the above information and documents. You will be billed for the permit. I can be faxes of emailed to you upon special request.
